SAVING the BIOSPHERE

This photo was under muddy water for three days in a 1998 flood. Once very rare, flooding has become a yearly phenomenon in Bolivia, due to deforestation.

THE ECO TEAMS

The Amazon eco-teams address all the major problems of third world societies at once. They protect the natural environment, improve rural villages, offer jobs to the vagrant and unemployed, and raise individual self-esteem while establishing good habits. Trials with the eco-teams in the Amazon rainforest between 1990 and 2002 proved highly favorable.

THE CHAIN OF ACCOUNTABILITY

Besides their village improvement work, the teams are the bottom rung and broad base of the pyramid of accountability. They inform the Earthgarden leadership of what's happening to nature in their area.

Teams do not confront polluters and forest-destroyers personally. They pass the news to a higher level, where it's handled from above.

The Court of the Princess was an Eco Team.! It created TV shows, and hundreds of educational coloring sheets given to the kids, drawing attention to new ecological priorities.

CONTRIBUTING TO EARTH'S HEALTH

There are two types of people on earth, Earthfit and Earthfoul.

Earhfit people don't harm the planet. Earthfoul people do.

At this point in human history, IT'S NO LONGER VALID TO BE EARTHFOUL!

Our whole life-support system is at stake. We use all the tools at our disposal (education, art, media, etc.) to make everyone EARTHFIT. It will not only save the biosphere, but will make people happier and heal societies bogged down in cross-purposes.

The individual, the family, the household, the village, companies, towns and industry, can all become EARTHFIT. The eco-teams will provide the infra-structure.

Now we redefine OWNERSHIP.

OWNERSHIP IMPLIES STEWARDSHIP

If you don't take care of the living biosphere, you don't own the land. As of now, those who destroy the forest relinquish their right to ownership. This rule will go into effect as soon as we have the power to do it.

work starts in each new location by simply giving the children something useful to do, even without chairs or tables. These kids make glass-bead bracelets to sell.

Fine Central Asian kinjals are by Earthgardens tradition presented to the Boy leaders of the Elite Guardabosques for successful prevention of forest destruction. These precious heirlooms are symbols of their power. We have no illusions about the need for power in a task opposed by so many greedy forest exploiters. We are perfecting the means, and will enact them on a massive scale when the world, (donators, supporters, volunteers) feel the time has come.
